The introduction of the "Manhattan" Omega Constellation showed how Omega embraced the new quartz movement revolution. For sale here is one of the rare mechanical models in a good sized 35.5mm case (excluding the crown). The movement is on display through the exhibition case-back.
 
This particular watch is unique as the owner (it's one owner from new) felt the garish Roman Numerals on the bezel were aesthetically poor and had them professionally removed! He was an advocate for the true dress watch and there is a strong argument that his watch better fits the bill than the original!
 
This Constellation is in very good overall condition. The stainless steel case has very few marks. The bracelet is also stainless steel but with full width solid gold pins. The clasp is marked Omega and the Omega logo appears in solid gold. It will fit a wrist up to about 18.5cm and there is an additional spare link. 
 
The dial is gold with contrasting black print. The script reas Omega, the Omega logo, Constellation, Chromoneter, Automatic and Swiss Made. The hour and minute hands are gold with black shafts and each is inset with luminous material. Sweep seconds hand in gold. The hour indexes are cabouchon-style raised semi spheres. Railroad track outer. Quick-set date at 3. Pull the crown (original) out one step and turn it anti-clockwise to adjust date. Pull it out an additional step to adjust the time. The bezel, a really strong feature of this watch, is made of solid 18k gold has two pairs of "18k gold "griffs" at 3 and 9. The glass is made of sapphire so is scratch resistant.
 
Inside, there is the Omega calibre 1109 automatic movement and is marked as such on the rotor and can be clearly seen thought the exhibition case-back.
