This is one of those Omega models that could be described as hewed out of a block of steel! This 1975 Geneve 166 0169 is one of the more chunky Geneve designs. It is gold-plated and there are no signs that the plate has worn. Any dents or scratches are so small they generally can't be seen by the unaided eye. The case-back is stainless steel and the vertical brush finish is as original and suggests the watch has seen little wrist time. The Omega logo is etched in the centre and unworn. On the inside of the case-back it is fully marked Omega.
The dial is excellent and the surface has not degraded at all in the past 50 years. The golden hour batons are finished with chamferred edges and black tops and are riveted in place. The non-quarter batons still have their original luminous material tips although they no longer glow. The golden hands are matching and there's a sweep seconds hand. In black print it is signed with the Omega logo, Omega, Automatic, Geneve and Swiss-Made. At three there is the day and date. Pull out the crown one stop and rotate it either way to adjust the date. Pull it out to the second stop and rotate it clockwise to adjust the day and anticlockwise to adjust the time. The crown is original however the gold-plate has mostly worn off. The acrylic is original with the Omega logo etched in the centre. There are scratches on the surface.
Inside, the watch is run by a superb example of the Omega 1022 calibe which runs well.
The watch is fitted with a super-quality Speidel expanding bracelet. The top layer of bars are gold plated with the bottom layer are stainless steel. It's in good condition and will fit the average mans wrist.
