In its day the Constellation was the top of the Omega range. Every watch was independantly tested to confirm that it was of chronometer timekeeping standards and that was a real testement to the consistant quality of Omega engineering.
This example dates to 1966 and is in excellent condition. The case is gold capped whilst the case-back is stainless steel. As you would expect there is no rub through of the gold. There are just a few tiny dinks and scratches. In the centre of the case-back there is a solid gold disk with the observatory and 8 stars.
The dial is also in very good condition. Gold Dauphine hands with a matching sweep seconds hand. Polished gold hour batons. Applied Gold Omega logo, Omega script and star. Printed in black is Automatic, Chronometer, Officially Certified, Constellation and Swiss Made. Delightful cross hairs. Quick-set date at 3. To adjust the date pull the crown out one stop. Rotate the hands clockwise untill the date changes, stop at about 12.30 and move the hands back to about 11.45. Move the hands forward and the date will advance 1 hour at 12. Repeat for additional days. It has the original Omega acrylic with the Omega logo etched in the centre.
This model has the stylish semi-concealed crown. It looks great but is very fiddly to use! Being automatic you shouldn't need to use the crown to wind it that often.
The underside of the case-back is fully marked Omega and the watch is run by the impressive Omega calibre 561 movement.
The watch comes with a used, non-Omega black lizard strap and Omega buckle.
