A very attractive gold-capped Omega Seamaster from 1955.
In very good general condition this Seamaster certainly stands out with its date at six rather than the usual 3. The case has some minor dinks but with no evidence that the gold capping has rubbed through suggests that the watch has not has a hard life. Classic Seamaster beefy lugs and a wide bezel for this watch that was advertised for "The Active Man"! The stainless steel case-back is in similar condition and is inscribed with Seamaster and Waterproof. It's no longer waterproof so keep well away from water! On the inside of the case-back it is fully marked Omega.
The dial has aquired an attractive, even patina over the years. The gold coloured hands have black inserts part of which is missing in places. Sweep seconds hand. All complimented by gold coloured applied hour indexes. The applied Omega logo stands in gold whilst Omega, Automatic, Seamaster, Calendar and Swiss Made are in black script. Genuine Seamaster crown with the Omega logo. All the pictures are taken in natural light and are not edited. The colour of the dial is most closely represented by the picture of the watch on the wrist.
This watch auto winds from the movement of the wrist when it is worn. The energy from that movement is captured by a rotor that bumps back and fouth around its central axis. Described as a "bumper" movement! Inside is the Omega built calibre 355. As can be seen in the pictures this is in good condition. Runs well.
The watch comes with a new black non-Omega strap.
