A very attractive classic Omega Seamaster from 1955 with a patinated dial and stainless steel case.

The dial has a varied mid-brown patina that contrasts with the general stainless steel finish. The hour batons and number are steel however they too have a similar aged finish. Steel Dauphine hands. Sunken small seconds sub-dial at 6 with a circular Guilloche finish. Complete with fine cross hairs. New generic acrylic. Replacement genuine Omega crown.

The case design is classic Seamaster. Beefy lugs and a wide bezel give it that robust look as "A watch for the active man". There are slight dinks and scratches but's it's still in good condition for a 70 year-old watch! The case back is fully marked Omega on the inside. On the outside you can still read Seamaster and Waterproof if you catch the light right.

There is an inscription  on the back that likely refers to the "Nederduite Gereformeerde Kerk" (Dutch Reformed Church) and the "OVS" stands for "Oranje-Vrystaat" (Orange free State), a former independent Boer republic and later province in South Africa. The date 1937 could mark a special occasion, perhaps a gift or commemoration from the church. Whatever, it predates the manufacture of the watch.

Inside is the Omega 410 calibre movement that runs well.

The watch is fitted with a used German made watch strap made of Shell Cordovan - a high-quality durable leather; one of the finest leathers available for watch strap use.
