According to the Omega "Bible" Omega a Journey Through Time, the first series produced Omega wrist watch was created in 1900. Whilst wrist watches had been in use many years prior they weren't popular until proven in military use during the Boer War 1899-1902.
The watch for sale here dates to about 1915 and is very similar in appearance to the very first Omega wrist watch of 1900. It's in excellent condition and is the size of an average 1950s classic Seamaster so has good wrist presance.
The enamel dial is in excellent original condition with no hairline cracks. Black Poire hands. Black Roman numeral hour indexes. Railroad track minute outer with minutes in red. Omega in black print.
The Swiss-made case is solid silver. It's in excellent condition without any significant dinks or scratches. The inside of the case-back is fully hallmarked for silver and is stamped Omega. There is then a solid silver dust cover protecting the movement. This is also hallmarked and has a serial number that corresponds with the case-back. Silver wired lugs. There is a patent number that relates to the method use to attach the wire lugs to the case body.
The watch is run by the Omega 13'''NNL+S 7-16P. It is also in excellent condition and runs well.
The watch is fitted with a good quality used non-Omega strap with a hallmarked silver buckle.
It's very rare to find one of these very early Omega wrist watches in such nice condition and of good size. True early Omega heritage.
